Barn progress

We worked on the important part of the barn this weekend (the front!) Saturday was pressure washing day and we spent all day yesterday painting.

The barn is not quiet ready for its close-up, but here is a preview...

This poppy, however, is ready to be viewed in all its glory.

Weekend o' paint

We're hoping this barn will be red by the end of the long weekend. Gotta cut down some trees and poison ivy (!) first.

I'll take "Things that are yellow for $200"

I dyed some yarn with garlic mustard leaves this weekend. I know what you are thinking... boiling the leaves of a plant called "garlic mustard" must have been stinky. It was.

The resulting dye is a greenish yellow. This will soon be a lacy garlic mustard scarf!

Here are long awaited photos of the old-timey wallpaper we unearthed in our upstairs bathroom. Dunno what happened to the last ones in an old post, but I tried a billion times to fix it. Or like, three. Here is the old and older wallpaper without the derisive commentary.

Mmmm... Radishes!!!

The French Breakfast radishes are my favorites.

This is what happens when you run out of bird food...

What a maroon!!!

Robin update - they are still ugly

now a little more crowded.

Where is Donna Reed? Over the hydrangea bushes.

After a full day of garden planting on Saturday, Sunday was an icky rainy cold day. So I decided to embark on a new hobby - dyeing yarn. This first skein is sock yarn dyed in lemon-lime and orange kool aid. Next up...dandelions?

Robin's nest

This, along with a swallow nest, is in our barn and is being tended to by birds that don't particularly like it when we are around.

Why, yes, this nest is built on an electrical box. But, there is no power running to it, so no scrambled eggs.
